The Most Endangered Raptor
For 2023, we want to introduce you to Maya, the ambassador for orange-breasted falcons (Falco deiroleucus) at the Belize Raptor Center.
She is a representative of one of the most endangered species of raptors in the world. There are currently only about 50 of these beautiful birds left in the wild, and conservation biologists are desperately looking for ways to help slow the loss of Maya’s species.
In this short video, Sarah Mann, Director of the Belize Raptor Center, introduces Maya and answers some questions about orange-breasted falcons from the audience as part of one of our virtual tours of the Center.
We founded IE on the premise that active engagement, coupled to the natural inquisitiveness of all humans to learn about their world, are the key elements for the success of wildlife and ecosystem conservation efforts.
