The manatee, known here is Belize as the sea cow, is a beautiful marine mammal that may often be spotted in the mangroves off of Tobacco Caye. The West Indian Manatee has the highest population in the entire world here in Belize. Tobacco Caye Marine Station is partnering with Belize’s locally known manatee man in order to conduct aerial surveys to establish manatee populations around Tobacco Caye and in the neighbouring mangrove range. Purchases of this sticker fund our aerial drone maintenance, permit application and continued work to monitor local manatee populations.
