The Inspiration

Here is the background on each of these designss:

Green Sea Turtle

Our green sea turtle sticker was designed and illustrated by a student on our summer internship programme the sea turtle that you see on the sticker is in fact a real-life illustration of a sea turtle that we have seen on our snorkels off Tobacco Caye. This sticker helps raise awareness about the incredible journey and challenges sea turtles go through during their whole lives. Did you know that only 1 in 1000 turtle hatchlings will survive to adult hood that is why we need to do everything that we can to raise awareness about the significance of protecting and not disturbing turtle nesting’s, hatchings and even turtles in the wild.

The Mayan Turtle

The Mayan turtle sticker is a symbol of Tobacco Cayes appreciation to the ancestors the Mayans who have been stewarding both the land and sea around us for many generations, which is why we have such an obligation to look after our Marine environment for future generations.

The Orange Trash Turtle

Our orange trash turtle sticker is made-up of some of the most common items of trash that we find during our reef clean efforts when we head out and remove ocean trash washing up around Tobacco Caye each purchase of a trash turtle sticker goes directly to funding trash removal re-purposing and raising awareness about the significant impact of ocean plastic pollution. It is through purchases of this sticker that Tobacco Caye Marine Station was able to purchase and design their very own plastic shredder called Pam aka the plastic annihilating machine.

The TCMS Turtle Logo

Our TCMS logo sticker is Tobacco Caye Marine Stations logo which helps people recognise that you have been involved with supporting a project at the Marine Station and that could be anything from lionfish removal to reef surveys to trash removal to helping us some run workshops to educate both local Belizean’s and island residents and visitors about the incredible Marine environment of the Belize Barrier Reef.
